Royal Canal Adventures Covid-19 Booking Policies

At Royal Canal Adventures, we are aware that planning/booking a holiday in today’s climate has dramatically changed due to the Corona virus pandemic. All of us have had to adapt to a ‘new normal’, a direct result of governmental policy to halt the spread of this virus. Royal Canal Adventures are learning and adapting and realise the needs/concerns of our customers have changed somewhat to those pre-Covid-19. We want our customers to know that we are adapting our services to address these changes. Our customers can feel safe in the knowledge that we will do our utmost to ensure we deliver a rich and rewarding experience in that we will be flexible in as far as possible if packages booked need to be changed/altered.

Our cancellation policies remain the same as outlined below in the booking section of our terms and conditions. In that, we will only charge our customers any fees incurred by Royal Canal Adventures by our suppliers as a result of a cancellation or modification. However, we will also refund a deposit in full for any Covid-19 related cancellation.

  1. To reserve either a walking or running holiday a customer must pay the specified deposit for the selected package holiday. Upon receiving your deposit, we will start making reservations for your holiday. The deposit is non-refundable except in the unlikely situation whereby Royal Canal Adventures cannot secure your booking.
  2. The full balance of the walking or running holiday is due 21 days (3 weeks) prior to the start date of the holiday. If you are booking within 3 weeks of the start date, then full payment is required.
  3. If the full balance of the walking tour price is not received within 3 weeks of the start date of the tour, Royal Canal Adventures reserves the right to cancel the booking.
  4. If in the rare case that accommodation for your holiday is unavailable due to high demand, we may need to use alternative suppliers. If, in the event that additional costs could arise, we will contact you directly to advise you of these costs and ask for your permission to proceed before Royal Canal Adventures continues with the booking.
  5. If a customer wishes to modify their holiday in any way after Royal Canal Adventures has confirmed their booking, they will be charged for any additional costs that have been incurred by Royal Canal Adventures for example, cancellation fees charged by our suppliers. Any modifications will depend on alternative availability.
  6. If a customer has to cancel their holiday with us, they will only be charged any fees that Royal Canal Adventures has incurred as a result of cancelling their reservation with our suppliers. However, this does not apply to the deposit as this is non-refundable.
  7. Many B&B owners are reluctant to take multiple single room bookings for the same night. For this reason, we can accept no more than 3 single room requests per booking.
  8. Force Majeure: Where war or terrorist activities, threatened or actual, civil unrest, industrial action, threatened or actual, weather conditions, pandemics, fire, flood, drought, airport regulations or closures, unforeseen alterations to public transport schedules and rescheduling of aircraft or any other event outside the control of Royal Canal Adventures either delays or extends the tour or compels a change in prior arrangements, Royal Canal Adventures cannot accept liability for any resulting loss, damage or expense to the customer.
Royal Canal Adventures Liability to the Customer
  1. We pride ourselves on providing a holiday that meets our customers’ expectations. However, accidents can happen. As a result, it is imperative that you take out adequate insurance cover before your holiday to cover loss or damage to personal property, personal injury or illness, medical expenses and cancellation expenses. Please be aware that Royal Canal Adventures cannot accept any liability relating to personal injury or illness, loss or damage to personal equipment, or any other unforeseen events that occur during your walking or running holiday.
  2. All information, resources or suggestions given by Royal Canal Adventures in relation to the Royal Canal Greenway, climate, clothing, baggage, special equipment etc. is provided in good faith but without responsibility on the part of the Business.
  3. Royal Canal Adventures cannot accept any liability relating to loss or damage of personal property during the transfer of luggage during your walking tour. For this reason, valuable or breakable items (e.g. jewellery, electronic devices, cash, etc.) should not be left in baggage due to be transferred.
  4. Royal Canal Adventures strongly encourages you to take out adequate insurance cover prior to travel for loss or damage to personal property.
  5. Where any part of the holiday is provided by a third party, Royal Canal Adventures will use reasonable care and skill in selecting such other third party, but shall not be liable to the Customer for the performance of the third party and/or for any loss or damage, whether of a personal nature or to the Customer’s possessions, as a result of the third parties act or omission howsoever caused.
  6. Long distance running and walking are extreme pastimes/sports. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure they are physically fit to cover the distances on their itinerary and that they are in a good state of health.

Walking/Running pack
Once the full payment for your holiday has been received your walking/running pack will be posted to your address. This will include a guide book on the Royal Canal and your itinerary with details on where you will be staying. It will provide information on the best restaurants, cafés and bars on the Greenway. We will give tips on interesting places to visit along the way. There will be one walking pack per four people. If there are 5 – 8 people there will be two walking packs.
